13th International Hemp Building Symposium

The 13th International Hemp Building Symposium will take place at Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in the Lower Sioux Indian Reservation, Minnesota, USA, organised by the International Hemp Building Association (IHBA).
IHBA symposiums are famous for bringing together experts and innovators from around the world to share the latest ideas and projects in hemp construction. It’s also the best place to meet others working in this growing and exciting field. This is the biggest event in the world focused on building with hemp.
The three-day event will include speakers from many countries sharing new research, test results, and real-life building projects. You will also hear from people working with hemp on the ground, sharing their experience from completed or upcoming projects. There will be a site visit to local hemp building projects where you can see for yourself how this sustainable material is being used.
The event is hosted by the Lower Sioux Indian Community, together with Americhanvre, a leading US hemp building company and the main sponsor is Ereasy. Morton is a small town in Minnesota near Redwood Falls and known for its natural beauty and cultural history. It’s a great place to explore sustainable building solutions and connect with others who care about the future of construction.

Located just south of Minnesota river near the town of Morton, Minnesota, the Lower Sioux Indian Community of the Dakota Sioux welcome the International Hemp Building Association to hold the 13th International Hemp Building Symposium at their reservation on October 3 – 5, 2025.
Since 2019 the Lower Sioux have initiated a project to improve the quality of housing on the Reservation. In cooperation with Minnesota Housing Partnership MHP they developed a plan to establish the production and processing of Hemp materials for use in the construction and retrofitting of housing for the community.
For the Lower Sioux community, “Seed to Sovereignty” captures their mission of sustainability and empowerment. Through their hemp program, they are creating jobs, offering world-class training, and building homes that honor both people and the planet. Positioned in Minnesota, they’re leading a movement that inspires other communities to take charge of their futures.

As a location for the Symposium the Lower Sioux Community with on-site hotel the Jackpot Junction Hotel, has all the facilities required for our event.
This year we will also provide an expo space attendees will enjoy featuring the main players in the fast growing industry.
Site visits to building projects and the community hemp processing facility are all nearby and will be a part of the program. Live hemp building technologies will be demonstrated.
The Lower Sioux Indian Community, located in Morton, Minnesota, is a federally recognized Dakota tribe. Rooted in a rich cultural heritage, the community emphasizes self-determination, economic development, and the preservation of Dakota traditions. Home to approximately 1,000 members, it operates initiatives in education, healthcare, and housing while fostering strong ties with local and regional partners. EREASY® System High Performance Hempcrete
In 2009, Damien Baumer, a mason by trade, conceived the idea of an interlocking block that could easily be accepted by masons in France. The block was a solution to the problems of thermal bridging, and allowed for a reinforced concrete structure to be cast within it.
With help from his father – who had experience with steel fabrication from his trade as a car body builder – Damien made a mould for the block and then turned his home into a factory producing the new blocks, which was undertaken with the help of his wife Celine and their willing children, making up to fifteen blocks a day. At the same he filed a patent for the block design.
In 2012, the Vicat group came on-board with the idea. This began a collaboration that has resulted in Damien shepherding the further development of the block system, named Biosys® and controlling manufacture until the commercialisation of the system is complete
In 2015 while working on an old farmhouse he began developing a spray application system including a new type of binder and a very fast spray system. The material applied provides a high level of insulation and faster drying time than other products.
Now called the EREASY® system it is used on projects all over Europe and the USA. Damien continues to improve the system with remote control equipment and spray lance design.
